Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members
We have a busy and exciting fortnight with a number of whole school activities. Last week we held our Pursuit of Excellence assembly where two students from each class were awarded with either an academic or citizenship award for pursuing excellence in these areas throughout the year. Well done to those students for your wonderful efforts. This
assembly also included the Pre- Primaries performing wonderfully and singing a Christmas song and the Year 2 music students singing Silent Night in both English and Noongar which was amazing!
We also announced the new councillors for 2022. Congratulations to the following students:
- Head Boy—Finn Mackenzie.
- Head Girl—Isabella Clapp.
- Councillors: Rosie Manera, Ashley Munro, Lily Robinson, Tully Robinson, Angus Russell and Arj Wright.
These students are looking forward to representing Yakamia PS with honour and fulfilling their duties as Student Councillors.
Last weekend 40 students from Yakamia marched in the annual City of Albany Christmas Pageant representing our school. The students looked amazing in their red and green and sparkly capes. Thank you to Mrs Sandy , Mrs Scott and parent helpers for assisting students with the march. It was a great afternoon.
Next Tuesday we have our Year 6 graduation. Parents and families of these students are welcome to attend. This will be followed by an afternoon tea. The Yr 6 parents have also organised a dinner for these students to celebrate their graduation and we wish them a fun evening.
Next week the P&C will be holding a raffle. to win a bike valued at $450 from MLA Rebecca Stephens. Thank you to Ms Stephens for this donation. Tickets will be $2 each, and sold in the Kindy/Pre-Primary area before school each day. The raffle will be drawn on Thursday morning at our whole school mini-assembly in the hall at 8:50am. Good luck to all who enter!
