From the Principal

Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members

Last Friday a team of 50 students represented Yakamia in the A Division Interschool Swimming Carnival. Congratulations to Albany Primary School for winning the carnival. We came 4th in the overall carnival and 3rd in the handicap. Congratulations to Austin and Ben who came 3rd and Ruby who came 4th in the championships. We were very proud of how hard our students swam, doing their best for Yakamia PS. Well done to all participants .

Today we celebrated reaching 5000 Turtle tickets with a Wheely Fun Day! Students have worked hard this term, demonstrating our PBS expectations and had a great day today riding around the school at recess and lunch on their wheels. Our next mini-goal is to reach 10 000 tickets.

Harmony day was celebrated at Yakamia on 21 March. It was great to see so many people dressed in orange and acknowledging our diversity, being inclusive and showing respect for everyone. Thank you to parents who donated food to the P&C for the morning recess, it was a great spread of food for students to enjoy. Thank you to the P&C for coordinating the canteen recess, students loved it!

Today is the last day of Term 1. Next Term is an 11 week term and commences for students on Monday 15 April. Our Staff Professional Learning Day will be Friday 26 April, the day after the ANZAC Day public holiday and no students will attend on this day.

Have a great holiday break and we look forward to seeing all students and families next Term.

Kind regards
Gemma Larham | Principal
