From the Principal

Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members

At our last assembly we were very excited when the P&C presented our school with a cheque of $40,000!

This amazing donation is from the last 3 years of fundraising for a new playground. Thank you to the P&C for your dedication and support of our school and to the families who have fundraised and donated to P&C events. We are now planning for our new playground and look forward to sharing our plans with the
school community soon.

At the end of last term, our Science teacher Mrs Hodgkinson, was offered a new position and took up this opportunity. We wish Mrs Hodgkinson all the best with her new adventure. We commenced the term with a new Science teacher, Mrs Sian Marshall. I would like to give a warm welcome to Mrs Marshall. We look forward to you being part or our school community.

On 19 October our Telethon Ambassadors, Emma, Braxton and Jaxon attended Telethon along with Miss Scott and Mrs Brookes to present our school cheque of $6719. This year the Perth Mint donated gold plated medallions to Telethon and 45 of these were given out to the most deserving Student Ambassadors and other Telethon Community Fundraiser groups to recognise their contribution to helping WA kids. The YPS Ambassadors were one of the 45 groups recognised. As our students were not able to attend the Perth event on the Thursday before Telethon, Premier Roger Cook did a special meet and greet with our students to present them with their Telethon medallion and certificate of appreciation, and thank them for their wonderful contribution the Telethon Kids on the Sunday. A big thank you to our families for donating to our Telethon Ambassador fundraisers throughout the year too and Miss Scott for coordinating and supporting the students. We were very proud of you all.

As per the previous newsletter I informed families that our 2025 Term 2 School Development Day will be Friday 4 May, which will be different from other schools in Albany and this will be the day we have Candice present our second year Professional Learning for Real Schools. The other School Development Days (SDD) for 2025 have now been set by the Albany Schools Network. Continued….
